About me
I am a qualified person centred therapist and have had experience working in schools and in an agency setting.
My own personal experience of having counselling inspired me to become a counsellor myself as working with someone who offers a safe and non judgmental space to work through difficult feelings and emotions can be so beneficial to the healing process. I wanted to learn how to support others to reap the benefit of effective therapeutic work. This is an ongoing evolving process and the gaining of knowledge and experience to improve on this never stands still.
Individual work - CYP (Children and Young People)
Having worked in a secondary school the base of my experience is working with children from the age of 12yrs +. During the process of therapy we work together to build trust between us and generally use creative resources to help with the therapeutic process. We can explore feelings and emotions around anxiety, relationships with others, both adults and peers, challenging life stages and how to navigate through them. Changing life stages can be very anxiety inducing and having a safe space to talk about what difficulties a person is facing can offer light relief. Working together we can explore suitable coping strategies to manage day to day challenges in life which can offer value and benefit. Regular reviews are conducted to check in with the client to ensure that the work we are doing is suitable and effective for each individual person.
Individual work - Adult
My approach with adults is mainly person centred which means simply offering a space that has the potential to feel safe enough to explore feelings and emotions around the life challenges that have brought you to therapy. Sessions are non directive and lead by the client to have the freedom to talk about whatever feels right during the present session. We can explore using creative resources if that feels suitable and appropriate and I will be directed by you to discover the most effective way in working together that feels comfortable and aligns with your personal preferences. Regular reviews will be conducted in order to check in and explore whether the expectations of therapy are in line with the experience.
