About me

Before embarking on my counselling training, I have worked for many years in educational settings and Local Authorities. As well as teaching, my focus was on Pastoral support and seeking to promote and facilitate inclusion for individuals with a variety of needs.

Counselling Individuals (Adults)

We all experience times when we have difficulty dealing with the ‘peaks and troughs’ that come our way through life. As well as offering an objective, listening ear, Counselling can provide a dedicated time and space to explore those challenges that can cause worries or concerns. As a therapist I have experience of working with adults from the age of 18+ years.

I am flexible in my approach and we will work at a pace that best suits you, so that in a timely way we can look at your emotions and feelings to help you get a better understanding of yourself and the circumstance you are in. As the therapeutic relationship develops, we will discover what works best for you so that you can feel that your needs are being met.

My aim is to provide a calm, confidential and safe space where you feel able explore your concerns, where there is no judgement or advice offered. The hope is that you can reflect and take control to make your own decisions to bring about life affirming change.

Counselling Individuals (CYP)

I have experience of working with young people from the age of 11 years. I have a wealth of knowledge and practice in supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) and teenagers who are Looked After Children (LAC).

Some youngsters may prefer talking with their therapist, their main need being to feel that they have been heard and listened to, while others may need creative activities such as play or art/craft work to help them feel comfortable or to aid in finding the words they want to say to capture how they are feeling. By providing a calm, safe space individuals can explore their concerns. With support and strategies, each young person can make their own decisions about what needs to change for them to overcome their difficulties and develop resilience.
